Order Processing
I keep some items in stock (especially earrings), while others are made to order. All orders are processed within 2 to 10 business days (M-F, excluding holidays) after you place your order. Typical processing times are:
- earrings: 1-3 days
- necklaces and bracelets: 2-5 days
- scarves and belts: 2-3 weeks
- commissioned pieces: dependent upon scope of work
Please email me at artist@rebecamojica.com before placing your order if you have a deadline, as I'll do my best to accommodate.
Most jewelry items are protected in tissue and enclosed in a jewelry box with an embossed RM silver seal.
Some larger items (belts and scarves) are typically packaged in large organza bags rather than boxes, simply because they don't fit in the smaller jewelry boxes.
To protect your jewelry from the rigors of transit, all items are sent in sturdy shipping boxes rather than bubble mailers.
If your item is a gift shipping directly to the recipient, include a note during checkout to let me know. I'll omit the price and can include a handwritten note if you'd like!
Shipping
By default, domestic orders are sent via USPS Ground Advantage Mail. You can choose shipping upgrades during checkout.
Shipping rates and upgrades will be shown during checkout.
Refer to our Shipping Policy for complete information.
We currently offer international shipping to Canada, Australia, the UK and countries within the EU. Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
Your order may be subject to import duties and taxes (including VAT), which are incurred once a shipment reaches your destination country. These charges are your responsibility as the customer, and Rebeca Mojica Jewelry is not responsible for them if they are applied.
Most packages within the US arrive within one week. The closer you are to Southern California and/or a major metropolitan area, the faster your order typically arrives.
Overseas deliveries can take anywhere from 1-8 weeks.
Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.
Check the status of your purchase on our order tracking page.
When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available.
If you haven’t received your order within 7 days of receiving your shipping confirmation email (domestic) or within 3 weeks (international), please use the contact us form or email support@rebecamojica.com with your name and order number, and we will look into it for you.
Please check your order and email confirmation carefully to ensure your address is correct. Notify us of any changes immediately. If we have not yet shipped your order, we can easily update your address.
If the item ships to an incorrect address and is returned to us, you'll need to cover the cost to re-ship. You will still need to cover this cost even if your order qualified for free shipping, as the "free shipping" only applies to one sending, not multiple. We'll send you an invoice for the shipping and will reship upon payment.
If you're in West Hollywood, feel free to contact me to arrange for pickup. It's always nice to meet customers face to face!
Returns
Most regularly stocked, non-sale items are eligible for returns and exchanges; conditions apply. Restock fees may apply, particularly in the case of earrings. (For hygienic reasons, earwire must be removed and discarded.)
Commissioned work is generally ineligible for refunds.
Refer to the Rebeca Mojica Jewelry Returns & Exchanges policy for complete information.
The Jewelry
Refer to the Sizing page for complete details about how bracelets and necklaces are sized. If you require a custom size, please contact us.
Yes, it is! The story begins long before that, however. In order to create the basic "jump ring" link that I work with, first a spool of wire must be coiled around a mandrel (of whatever size is needed), then cut and finally cleaned, or sent to an aluminum anodizer to be dyed.
Once the rings are ready, it's time for me to get to work! Using one set of pliers in each hand, I link the jump rings one by one, for hours. To some people, this sounds about as exciting as receiving a lobotomy while getting a cavity filled. However, I love it! I try to spend some time every day weaving purely for pleasure, as it is almost a form of meditation for me.
Most pieces currently available are aluminum or stainless steel. By special request I work with many other metals, including sterling silver, gold-fill, copper, brass, bronze, niobium and titanium.
Aluminum - Most people—even those with metal sensitivities—report no reaction to aluminum, especially anodized aluminum. It is widely accepted that aluminum is very poorly absorbed through the skin, so you do not need to worry about metal toxicity.
Over time, aluminum will corrode slightly, losing a bit of shininess. It stops this process once its surface layer (very thin) has corroded.
Composition: Aluminum: 92.9 - 95.3%; Magnesium 0.8 - 1.2%; trace amounts possible of Chromium, Copper, Iron, Silicon, Zinc Manganese, Titanium
Stainless Steel - Steel lasts pretty much forever and does not tarnish.
Stainless steel contains nickel, however the way steel is created binds the nickel molecules in such a way that the chain tends to not cause a reaction for most people with skin sensitivities. (Yay chemistry!) Even so, those with nickel allergies very occasionally cannot wear stainless steel. If you've worn other stainless steel jewelry without issues, then Rebeca Mojica Jewelry items should also be fine to wear. If you cannot wear steel, feel free to reach out to see if other options are available.
Composition: Iron: approximately 69% Chromium: 19%; Nickel: 9.25%; Magnesium approximately 2%; Silicon: 1%; Carbon 0.08%; Phosphorous 0.045%; Sulfur: 0.03%
Most Rebeca Mojica Jewelry is made from aluminum or stainless steel. These metals do not tarnish. However, they can pick up dirt, oil and odors from your skin or the environment. You can easily clean your pieces with dishwashing soap and water. Create a good lather and gently rub the piece between your palms for 30 seconds or so before thoroughly rinsing. Use cool or lukewarm water.
Note that the color in aluminum is obtained by creating a porous surface and adding dye. The dye is sealed with a finishing process to hold the color. As with all dyed products, the end result is subject to fade over time. It is particularly important to store all colorful jewelry away from sunlight. (Think of what happens to a curtain that hangs in the sun for years; the same happens to colorful maille if exposed to sunlight.)
To prolong the life of your jewelry (particularly anything with color or stones), remove your jewelry before entering the shower and do not immerse your jewelry in water.
Remove jewelry when using household cleaning products. Do not apply lotion, sunscreen, makeup or any product with alcohol to your jewelry.
Custom Requests
If you would like an item in a different color, or if you prefer a different metal altogether, contact me with your request. Not all colors are available in all metal sizes, and often the "same" color can be different shades across multiple sizes. So it's best if you have some wiggle room with what you're looking for.
There is no charge to customize colors on an already existing design. Payment is required upfront.
Take a look at the color galleries to see what options may be available. Let me know which design you'd like, and what your color preferences are. I'll set up a custom listing for you.
Yes! You can swap the earwire on any pair of earrings. Select your metal and style on the earwire upgrade page (note that some swaps are free of charge, while others have upgrade fees).
Minimalist earwires are always in stock for all metals. I try to have most of the other options on hand, but some of the rarely requested options may not be readily available. Be sure to let me know if you have a specific timeframe or if you'd like a metal/style not shown.
I'm happy to work with you to create a one-of-a-kind piece. I say "yes" to some commissions and "no" to others - it depends upon the project and my availability. Commissions require a non-refundable deposit, with the balance due upon completion of the project. If you'd love to have me create a piece for you, contact me and let me know what you envision.
